My E-learning report

发布2010/5/26的 tanwei

In my opinion the Internet English is very interesting. On one hand I can search the Internet as often as I like .On the other hand I can practice my English and I can feel the happiness from chatting with foreigners .I have known more about English websites from the Internet English class .In fact, before the course I think there is no need to having the Internet English class  because nowadays almost everyone knows how to search the Internet in China .But after the course I know that my previous opinion was wrong .Because I find that I know little about the Internet English.

From the course I know there are many resources about  English which I can use to improve my English .The teacher has introduced many useful websites to us including gmail.com and vzo.com and so on .And I have found a very useful English website after class whose name is kekenet.com The complete  address  of the website is http://www.kekenet.com/. There are many useful resources about English especially for the test including BEC and CET4 and so. And there are many people who like English very much chatting their experience and providing their English resources in the forum.. I always ask them questions about English and they always try their best to help me which moves me very much .I also download many listening resources from it. There are also many English songs which I like very much .

During the E-learning process I chatted with many foreigners which makes me very happy and I have made friends with some of them .Some of them are very warm and we talk about customs , music, sports and countries which we like most and so on. .I have benefited a lot from chatting with them. My colloquial language has improved a lot and I am not so shy as before . I  am too shy to talk with foreigners before the course because my colloquial language is not that good even I can not express myself clearly .From the course I found speaking English is not so difficult as I think .But there are also some frustrations during the process. Because I do not know how to chat with foreigners at the beginning .Some of them are very indifferent to me. I still remember that I sent messages to ten foreigners but no one reply to me. .And I even want to give up at that time. My vocabulary is not enough to chat with them so I have to use the dictionary to help me which makes very depressed. But everyone knows that failure is the mother of success .I will not give up and I will try my best to achieve my target.

I have set up my mind to learning English well. I will not give up E-learning though the course was over. I will use English as often as I can when I search the Internet. I will connect with my foreigner friend as often as I can .The course was ended but I think our friendship will last  forever .

My E-learning Report

发布2010/5/26的 20072187

  With the quick development of the modern society,there are more and more high technologies take place in our daily lives.Among them,the Internet is used most widely all over the world.It is useful for no matter you are men or women,you are old or young.The Internet technology is becoming affect the quality of our lives day by day.In order to improve our knowledge,there is a course called E-learning for us.

  When I first heard of E-learning,I feel very puzzeled about that.What is the meaning of E-learning?What can we learn from the course?How should I learn it?A serious of questions occured in my mind.How to find information on the web?How to use e-mail?How to secure yourself online?There are so much problems.It seems so professional that I couldn`t understand the course well.In my opinion,the Internet English is rull of mysterious.I was a bit afraid about it.However,now I can grasp some skills of the Internet English after a term`s learning.I learned how to set up a blog,how to communicate with foreigners and so on.It is a new way of Internet communicantion for me.I have never experienced this method before.It is so wonderful.

  There are many experience and stories about the usefulness of online resources that can help us improve our English proficiency.I often think of communicating with foreingners is the best way to improve the English.In the E-learning class,we have learned many ways and got many websites to make friends with foreigners.We can also choose any country as we like.I remembered that once I talked to a foreign friend who is from England.We exchange our own cultures,mother tongue and so on inthe communication.In other words,I can learn many knowledge.I can learn a country`s culture when I communicate with a country`s friend.In my opinion,I think knowing the foreign cultures is an important way to improve the language.Learning foreign language needs our practice,so that we should learn more especially with the foreign friends.

  During the new course E-learning class,to make friends with foreigners,there are both joy and frustration.When we can communicated smoothly and learned many things from foreign students,I was joyful,because I think I can make a progress.Learning the Internet English is to use the wide spread of the Internet technology to communicate with every kind of people all around the world.However,I also had some frustration.I often feel frustrated about why some foreigners didn`t reply to my request to make friends when I applied to them.Is this because I didn`t put on a photo or is this I was not so sincere.It is a question that perplexed me for a long time.

  It is nearly the end of the E-learning class.The course has an ending,but I think there is never ends in my learning life.I will continue to learn more knowledge and skills about the Internet English.Today I set up the blog and communicate with the foreigners,just in English on the Internet.Tomorrow I will try my best to make some e-pals in the different countries.I want to learn more different cultures and languages.We don`t know how we will be in the future life,but to make friends is necessary to us.And I will make my future plans for the e-learning to the greatest extent.

  This is the last e-learning class.Even though it will end up,I don`t think it will make an ending in my way of learning.To catch a kind of high technology is a way for ua to stand steady in the nowadays society.In a word,only can we do well in the skills of the Internet English,we will have more chances to compete in the modern society.

Dear Annie,

Thank you for your letter of April 9th,in which you ask me about my career plan after graduation.Now I write to you to illustrate.

According to a survey by National Department of Education, more than six million college students will leave the so called “Tower of Ivory” this year. We will have to go to the society to do the job hunting.It is obvious that the competition in the society will be more and more cruel.I think I will try my best to finish my school work and get the diploma.And I will join some society activities in my spare time in order to enrich my experience because I think both knowledge and ability are important in the future career.

What is your opinion?Do you agree with me?

Sincerely

Linda

Dear Wang Shiping,

I got your email address from my teacher and I decided to contact you by email.

I'm(a) 20 years girl Japanese(Japanese girl) and I just started my nursing school. Yeah, I really love other languages. Chinese too. I can speak it only a little.

China is great! People are friendly and really intelligent! They love peace and others!(But I have never been to your country even once.)

But Japanese government is really cruel. They don't admit their acts in the past!

They are teaching lies about history of China and Japan! I wanna change it!

I love Japan of course, but I hate those thing(s)!!!

They must admit it and apologize for(to) Chinese people and China!

Well, may I ask you some questions?

Chinese are really hating Japanese and our country,

but it's natural. Our government had been(去掉been) treated them very cruelcruelty.

so I'd love to conversationconversewith you about that problem too.

Because that's really important point as building the friendship between China and Japan.I just wanna peace between China and Japan.I wanna change it! and I want Chinese to love Japan like before...like that they did before

China is our parent 'cos we were the same before!(so many, many century ago) and China gave us their culture(s) too.

Japan must thanks to(thank) China! Why we must hurt them? that's the most worst to  hurt the parents!

That's just like hurting mother and father!

and Japanese must apologize to them and we should make friends with your country more. We  must admit those facts in the past and accept it(them). So remember that there're many Japanese who hope the peace and feel so sorry to China.

Thank you.

hoping(from the bottom of my heart) we'll be very, very good friends!

 Take care,

Hanako

My reply to Hanako:

It is the 21st century,we are advancing,we can`t just live in the past.We Chinese often admit that you Japanese is a developed country.You have many high technology and very productive,so that it is better for we Chinese to learn from you. It is a modern times,development and peace are the main themes.I do really hope that Chinese and Japanese can make friends with each other.

I know you like China,and would you like to come for a visit?We Chinese are always friendly.Welcome to China!

I look forward to your early reply.

Best wishes!

Beauty

发布2010/5/5的 20072187
心情: .

There were a sensitivity and a beauty to her that have nothing to do with looks. She was one to be listened to, whose words were so easy to take to heart.

  It is said that the true nature of being is veiled. The labor of words, the expression of art, the seemingly ceaseless buzz that is human thought all have in common the need to get at what really is so. The hope to draw close to and possess the truth of being can be a feverish one. In some cases it can even be fatal, if pleasure is one's truth and its attainment more important than life itself. In other lives, though, the search for what is truthful gives life.

  I used to find notes left in the collection basket, beautiful notes about my homilies and about the writer's thoughts on the daily scriptural readings. The person who penned the notes would add reflections to my thoughts and would always include some quotes from poets and mystics he or she had read and remembered and loved. The notes fascinated me. Here was someone immersed in a search for truth and beauty. Words had been treasured, words that were beautiful. And I felt as if the words somehow delighted in being discovered, for they were obviously very generous to the as yet anonymous writer of the notes. And now this person was in turn learning the secret of sharing them. Beauty so shines when given away. The only truth that exists is, in that sense, free.

  It was a long time before I met the author of the notes.

  One Sunday morning, I was told that someone was waiting for me in the office. The young person who answered the rectory door said that it was "the woman who said she left all the notes." When I saw her I was shocked, since I immediately recognized her from church but had no idea that it was she who wrote the notes. She was sitting in a chair in the office with her hands folded in her lap. Her head was bowed and when she raised it to look at me, she could barely smile without pain. Her face was disfigured, and the skin so tight from surgical procedures that smiling or laughing was very difficult for her. She had suffered terribly from treatment to remove the growths that had so marred her face.

  We chatted for a while that Sunday morning and agreed to meet for lunch later that week.

  As it turned out we went to lunch several times, and she always wore a hat during the meal. I think that treatments of some sort had caused a lot of her hair to fall out. We shared things about our lives. I told her about my schooling and growing up. She told me that she had worked for years for an insurance company. She never mentioned family, and I did not ask.

  We spoke of authors we both had read, and it was easy to tell that books are a great love of hers.

  I have thought about her often over the years and how she struggled in a society that places an incredible premium on looks, class, wealth and all the other fineries of life. She suffered from a disfigurement that cannot be made to look attractive. I know that her condition hurt her deeply.

  Would her life have been different had she been pretty? Chances are it would have. And yet there were a sensitivity and a beauty to her that had nothing to do with looks. She was one to be listened to, whose words were so easy to take to heart. Her words came from a wounded but loving heart, very much like all hearts, but she had more of a need to be aware of it, to live with it and learn from it. She possessed a fine-tuned sense of beauty. Her only fear in life was the loss of a friend.

  How long does it take most of us to reach that level of human growth, if we ever get there? We get so consumed and diminished, worrying about all the things that need improving, we can easily forget to cherish those things that last. Friendship, so rare and so good, just needs our care--maybe even the simple gesture of writing a little note now and then, or the dropping of some beautiful words in a basket, in the hope that such beauty will be shared and taken to heart.

  The truth of her life was a desire to see beyond the surface for a glimpse of what it is that matters. She found beauty and grace and they befriended her, and showed her what is real.

The Rainy Day

发布2010/5/5的 20072187

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.
My life is cold and dark and dreary;
It rains and the wind is never weary;
My though still cling to the moldering past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.
Be still, sad heart! And cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

The country Maid and Her Milk Can

发布2010/5/5的 20072187
心情: .

A country maid was walking along with a can of milk upon her head, when she fell into the following train of reflections.” The money for which I shall sell this milk will enable me to increase my stock of eggs to three hundred, These eggs, allowing for what may prove addle, and what may be destroyed by vermin, will produce at least two hundred and fifty chickens. The chickens will be fit to carry to market just at the time when poultry is always dear; so that by the New Year I cannot fail of having money enough to purchase a new gown. Green-let me consider-yes, green becomes my complexion best. And green it shall be, in this dress I will go to the fair, where all young fellows will strive to have me for a partner; but no-I shall refuse every one of them, and with a disdainful toss turn from them."

The life I desired

发布2010/5/5的 20072187

That must be the story of innumerable couples, and the pattern of life of life it offers has a homely grace. It reminds you of a placid rivulet, meandering smoothly through green pastures and shaded by pleasant trees, till at last it falls into the vastly sea; but the sea is so calm, so silent, so indifferent, that you are troubled suddenly by a vague uneasiness. Perhaps it is only by a kink in my nature, strong in me even in those days, that I felt in such an existence, the share of the great majority, something amiss. I recognized its social value. I saw its ordered happiness, but a fever in my blood asked for a wilder course. There seemed to me something alarming in such easy delights. In my heart was desire to live more dangerously. I was not unprepared for jagged rocks and treacherous, shoals it I could only have change-change and the excitement of unforeseen.

Beautiful Passage

发布2010/5/5的 20072187
心情: . 音乐: big big world.

I’d like to dedicate this article to Katherine Chen, an extraordinary lady who has won my respect and admiration since the day we met. I want to thank for her generosity and guidance. As most great mentors, long after we’ve departed, her words continue to teach me for years.

 I share her great thinking and advice with you, my readers, in the hope long after I’ am no longer your teacher, these words will still be with you at that time.

Katherine was my leader back to the days I was working as an intern with a world-leading company. Just as every college student who is fresh in the business world, I was thrilled to earn this experience, but at the same time, I was always at loss.

I had never regarded myself as a shy person until I made my first contact with the vendor and media. My voice was terribly high-pitched, and I couldn’t express myself in a logic way. The terrible conversations on the phone really deflated my ego.

At that time, I was working as an assistant in marketing communications, but for me, the thought of communicating became the most frightening subject in the world.

As my students, you might not be able to imagine – Echo, the one who is now quite natural in public speaking once had a lot of problems in communication. But just as I told you, I was not born to be a good speaker. To become who I am today, I have come a long way.

In a big contrast, Katherine was a tough and strong business woman who was excellent in negotiation and communication. I couldn’t stop envying her ability to communicate with another person, be it a client, vendor, associate or boss. She was so powerful and the message she delivered was always logic and well-organized.

As my boss, she was tough with me in work, and she has trained me into a perfectionist who would try her best to perform beyond expectation.

As my mentor, she was generous and helpful, and I hope someday I would grow into someone that she would be truly proud of.

Katherine has taught me many lessons that I would carry all my life, and the biggest two I want to share with you here are the most valuable ones for me.

1. Work to learn

“Once a person stops searching information and knowledge, ignorance sets in.”

I am not sure whether Katherine still remembers these words. But it was really a big lesson to me. Real business world requires great knowledge base and most updated information. As an undergraduate who was green in the related area, what I needed to learn was way too much.

Setting a good example for me, Katherine never stopped furthering her learning. As a manager who had been in the field for five years, she was quite familiar with every process. Each task, big or small, could be handled by her with ease. But she often signed up for new training courses to equip with better understanding in this field.

As she suggested, I took quite a few internal online courses at noon when almost everyone else was taking a rest. Katherine said to me: “Make the best use of the resource to learn, and you will be rewarded in future.” Even if in the days I became capable of handling daily business, I never stopped the journey of learning.

Moreover, Katherine let me know – we can learn so much by watching the way others work. In the working place, so many deals are going on, excellent leadership and working styles are just out there for us to learn, but few of us are active learners.

As I said, I was horrible in communication and negotiation at the beginning. But I came to realize that communication skills, such as writing, speaking and negotiating, were the most important specialized skills in sales and marketing, and might be crucial to a life of success. The better you are at communication, negotiation and handling your fear of rejection, the easier your life will be.

I watched very carefully how Katherine talked on the phone and her way of leading the negotiation. And she might not know that I constantly worked on my talking when back home, and I read quite a few books to expand my knowledge in business conversation.

Copying and emulating role models is a powerful way of learning. After years of practice, now when I’m delivering a public speech or having a business conversation, I’m subconsciously acting with Katherine’s power in communication.

A great leader makes the internship priceless. Just as Katherine suggested me, I advise you to seek internship for what you will learn, more than what you will earn. Think about what skills you want to acquire before choosing a specific profession. And get yourself prepared in the internship by being an active learner.

2. Give and you will receive

Do you remember a remark in an audio clip I played in my class? “What goes around comes around.”

I have always trusted the principle of reciprocity, and Katherine made me believe in giving, even further.

I see many people grudge the idea of giving, especially in the business world full of wild competition. But Katherine never hesitates to give me advice and guidance. There was a time when she held a small meeting with me and another intern to share her idea about career development. Just as l said, the lessons she gave me will be carried for a lifetime. And now as I began to have my own students, I truly believe -- “What goes around comes around.”

During the 20 hours when I was in Chengdu, Lexi, one of my students from Chengdu who took the summer course came all the way to the hotel to visit me. I was deeply moved to see her waiting so long to catch my break. Knowing that I would have no time to visit the city, she brought me many special local products which by the way I love very much.

We talked for 10 minutes, and I had to go back to the interpretation task. But what she said to me really made my day. She said the days on the summer course always occurred to her, and now as a teacher herself, she took me as her role model to emulate.

As a Christian, I learn from the Bible that “God does not need to receive, but humans need to give.” It’s true that your world is a mirror of yourself.

I mentioned in the class, “smile, and the world smiles with you.” Whenever I feel that people aren’t smiling at me, I simply begin smiling and saying hello, and like magic, there are suddenly more smiling faces around me.

It is the same when it comes to knowledge, business, love and happiness. If you give first, there is so much you will receive. All you need to be is generous with what you have, and the power of generosity stay with you.

As to Katherine, I believe it was her generosity with what she knew that made her smarter. And in my life of teaching, it’s never been a one-way street. I have learned so much from my students in one way or another. It’s truly rewarding.
